Privacy Policy
Last updated: 29 September 2026
United Respite Care Inc. (“United Respite Care,” “we,” “us” or “our”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through our website and in the course of providing home care services, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in accordance with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).
Information we collect
We collect only the information we need to respond to your inquiry and provide care:
- Contact and inquiry details you give us through our consultation form, by phone or by email — such as your name, phone number, email address, city, who needs care, the type of support you’re looking for, and any message you send.
- Care-related information shared with us when you become a client or discuss care for a loved one — such as health, mobility and care needs. This is sensitive information and is treated with heightened care.
- Website usage information collected automatically if analytics are enabled — such as pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site (for example, from a Google Ads campaign). This may involve cookies or similar technologies.
How we use your information
- To respond to your inquiry and arrange your complimentary consultation.
- To assess care needs, create and deliver a personalized care plan, and communicate with you and your family.
- To operate, improve and secure our website, and to understand which of our advertising and services families find helpful.
- To meet legal, regulatory, insurance and safety obligations.
We do not sell your personal information.
Consent
By submitting our form or contacting us, you consent to our collecting and using your information for the purposes above. For sensitive health information and for delivering care, we obtain appropriate consent from you or your authorized representative. You may withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual limits, by contacting us (see below).
How we share information
We share personal information only as needed to provide care and run our business, for example:
- With our caregivers and care coordinators assigned to a client, on a need-to-know basis.
- With service providers who help us operate (for example, our website form provider (FormSubmit), email provider, or analytics provider), under agreements that require them to protect your information.
- Where required or permitted by law, or to protect the safety of a client, our staff or the public.
Some service providers may store data outside British Columbia or Canada; where that is the case, the information may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions.
Cookies and analytics
If enabled, we use tools such as Google Analytics and Google Ads conversion tracking to understand website traffic and the performance of our advertising. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
How we protect your information
We use reasonable physical, organizational and technical safeguards to protect personal information against loss, theft, and unauthorized access, disclosure, or use. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and limit access to those who need it.
Retention
We keep personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described here or as required by law, insurance or professional obligations, after which it is securely destroyed or de-identified.
Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask questions about how it is handled. To make a request, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
Children
Our website is directed to adults arranging care. We do not knowingly collect information from children through the website.
