Accessibility Statement
Last updated: 29 September 2026
United Respite Care Inc. is committed to making our website accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We believe families should be able to reach us and learn about our care regardless of ability, device, or assistive technology.
Our standard
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, the standard referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and by Canadian accessibility legislation, including the Accessible Canada Act and British Columbia’s Accessible British Columbia Act.
What we’ve done
- Semantic HTML with clear headings and landmark regions so screen readers can navigate the page.
- A “skip to content” link and a visible keyboard focus indicator on every interactive element.
- Text and background colours chosen to meet AA contrast, and a highly legible typeface (Atkinson Hyperlegible) sized for easy reading.
- Descriptive text alternatives for meaningful images, and labels tied to every form field.
- Large tap targets and a layout that reflows cleanly on phones, tablets and desktops, and when text is enlarged.
- Respect for the “reduce motion” setting for people sensitive to movement.
Ongoing effort
Accessibility is an ongoing commitment. We review the site as it changes and work to fix issues we find or that are reported to us. Some third-party content (for example, an embedded video or map) may not be fully under our control; where that is the case, we will provide an accessible alternative on request.
